George Candon

Head of Communications

George Candon joined IPC in September 2010 to direct the development of IPC’s strategic global communications in and beyond the 24 member countries represented by the corporation. His team leads on raising the profile of the postal industry through targeted media relations, turnkey high-end stakeholder events, leveraging industry conferences, and digital communications, amongst others. The Communications team also supports IPC’s marketing efforts and publishes several market intelligence and research periodicals, including the IPC Market Flash and IPC Regulatory Flash, IPC Strategic Perspectives and the IPC Annual CEO Report to Shareholders.

Before joining IPC George was Director of Consumer and Brand Communications and a member of the senior management team of Weber Shandwick in Brussels, one of the world’s leading global communications and PR agencies. There he led a team of ten communications consultants delivering innovative pan-European brand and corporate communications campaigns for blue-chip companies such as UPS, General Motors, Opel, Goodyear, Royal Dutch Shell and MasterCard. Prior to that he was Marketing Communications Manager for Upaid, a Paris-based mobile telephony technology company.


George is a board member and Secretary of the Belgian chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, past Secretary of the University of Dublin Alumni Association France, and has taught communications at Science Po Paris. He holds an MSSc in European Politics from the Queen’s University, Belfast, and a BA (Mod) Hons in modern languages from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. An Irish national, he speaks English, French, Gaelic, German, Italian and Spanish.
