Monique Herssens is responsible for IPC item monitoring systems, which support the EPG, STARS, EMS and PRIME projects and also provide ad-hoc services to the KPG group and the UPU EMS Cooperative. She joined IPC when the company operated an air transport network dedicated to move EMS items across Europe and between Europe and North-America. She has participated in the development of EDI for postal related traffic since the early 1990s, first within the IPC/Unipost IPTIM project, then within the UPU CMG group and now within the DCG/EXG subgroup of the UPU Standards Board.

Previous professional experience includes:  IT support for customers of the Burroughs company, development of word-processing systems for Logabax, telematic applications for Intersys, participation in a research project for integrated circuits at the Catholic University of Leuven in collaboration with the University of Grenoble in France, and data analysis and development team leader for Les Assurances Fédérales.

Ms. Herssens studied Latin and Greek and holds a certificate in Civil Engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven.
