Despite the impact of the international crisis within the postal business and subsequent decrease of postal demand, the CTT Group achieved a net profit of €56.3 M in 2010, less 6.1% comparing to 2009. This enabled the distribution of dividends to the shareholder in the amount of €36.1 M. The EBITDA and EBIT margins were 11.4% and 7.8% respectively.

CTT carried out the strategy to face the full liberalization consolidating its operational efficiency with the development of corporate mail delivery and provision of new services at the post office counters as well as within the competitive area of the digital services (the users of ViaCTT, the electronic mail box, increased 72%).

The joint venture of CTT-Correios de Portugal and the Post of Mozambique, the CEP company CORRE, started its expansion strategy in the second semester strengthening the internationalization positioning of CTT.

The Project Earth and the Project Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion, with the free delivery of 11.8 thousand of parcels to solidarity institutions, reinforced the role of CTT as an active and social responsible player in the community.

CTT-Correios de Portugal was once again rewarded as a Trust and Excellence Brand and CTT Expresso won the Gold award equivalent to the first place among all public and private postal operators of the EU. The company’s social and environmental positioning and awareness embodied in the action plan: “CTT. With you for a sustainable future” was also rewarded with a World Mail Award.
