UPS Operation in Poland Crowned Market Leader

Two independent surveys sponsored by media publications in Poland have concluded that UPS's small package operation in that country is by far the market leader.

The surveys, one sponsored by the daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita and the other by the trade magazines Eurologistics and Truck & Biznes, concluded that UPS Polska has grown to be the largest courier or logistics company in Poland by a number of different measures.

The newspaper's ranking of UPS as No. 1 was based on income, the range of services offered and the company's pace of development within Poland. The rank of No. 1 in the magazines' Top 500 survey was based on an assessment of management efficiency as well as earnings.

The Rzeczpospolita survey was conducted with a team of experts from the Warsaw School of Economics and a financial publication known as Monitor Polski B, while the two trade publications engaged the Data Group Consulting Co. to assist with their review.

"Both awards are hugely important to us because the rankings give the big picture of our entire industry here and indicate the best market players," said Piotr Sitarek, UPS Polska's general manager. "We've been working very hard for a very long time to achieve this leadership position and view the awards as an affirmation of our emphasis on providing superior customer service."

UPS Polska was built on UPS's acquisition in 2005 of Messenger Service Stolica S.A., a large domestic delivery service within Poland. Today, UPS Polska supports not only domestic but also extensive import and export shipping for Polish customers.

"Our employees in Poland have worked tirelessly to assist our customers in building their businesses in one of central Europe's most dynamic economies," added Brendan Canavan, president of the North District in Europe. "This is wonderful recognition of a job well done."
