FoMbA Business Processes

The Future of Mail by Air (FoMbA) Road Map outlines the path FoMbA participants would like to take to achieve automated, simplified, aligned and paper free business processes for mail carriage between Posts and Airlines and stakeholders. Using the Road Map as a guide, we developed business processes that are based on action group inputs from pilot trials and development work on M39 CARDIT-RESDIT implementation, space allocation procedures, PAWB assignment trials, paper free transport trials and other FoMbA related work. Please download the draft business processes listed herein…

The draft business processes describe the FoMbA vision of end-to-end processes (from sender to addressee) related to international mail transport. It tries to describe the operational and messaging procedures to be put in place in order to achieve the common goals laid down in the Road Map. It lists the process steps for all stakeholders concerned, focusssing on the the data capturing to be performed and messages that have to be exchanged. Colour coding is used to distinghuish between what is currently already in place, what has been agreed should be included short term and what has been identified as potential improvements but needs further assessment and pilot trialling. Please download the legend for the FoMbA business processes and learn how to read the files…

The FoMbA participants may not yet be able to implement all the draft FoMbA business processes since the process still requires some enhancements to current electronic systems and messaging capabilities. Until then, FoMbA pilot trial participants will work out local interim FoMbA business processes and related operational and messaging procedures. However, these Interim local FoMbA business processes and procedures need to be documented as they include particular local business requirements and current system developments of the FoMbA participants and lanes concerned. Documenting both the generic FoMbA business processes as well as the location-specific FoMbA interim processes will ensure a smooth implementation and will help share the experience on pilot trials for different participants and for different lanes. These benefits also apply to the operational and messaging procedures. Stakeholders in each location can use the templates to write their own local procedures and then write their training material. Please download here the latest version of the manuals with the operational and messaging procedures for space allocation, PAWB assignment and paper free transport.
