Managing a direct team of fourteen, the CFO/CCO will supervise five key areas of the organisation:
- Responsibility for the development of the business plan and organisational strategy and its promotion to IPC employees, members, and stakeholders.
- IPC’s commercial policies, including scrutinising/amending/negotiation of contracts.
- "Strategic challenge” of proposed policies.
- The management of relationships with members.
- Working and negotiating with an assortment of members, non-members, suppliers, professional advisors, and international bodies in the course of their role.
- Direction of financial accounting policies and implementation.
- Producing the financial statements.
- Managing internal audit, financial control policy, budgets, forecasts, and production of financial analysis.
- Managing company procurement.
Facilitating member meetings aimed at agreeing inter-company pricing arrangements.
- Interpretation and modification of IPC’s Articles of Association.
- Managing the administration of IPC Board meetings and the production of the Board minutes.
- Ensuring the company administration and filings conform with Dutch and Belgian law.
- Taking a strategic view of the postal sector by understanding the postal, packet and parcel market, anticipating its development and the consequences for IPC’s Members as a whole and individually. Commissioning market research, overall direction of existing research, and providing results and communications material to the Members.
- Defining appropriate services aligned to the needs of the members. Development of innovative products and building a reputation for innovative capacity of IPC. Transfer successful innovations into business and free up new capacity for more innovations.
- Manage the sustainability program and continuously develop it to meet the needs of the Members. Coordinate IPC sustainability effort with the UPU.
- Maintaining an overview of the development of the regulatory environment in which posts operate, providing the latest developments to IPC’s Members including analysis and conclusions about the consequences. Continuous improvement of IPC’s regulatory database to provide an even better service for IPC’s members.
Given the seniority and significance of the position to the organisation, IPC is seeking a committed individual of the highest calibre who will bring experience as a general manager and membership of company/divisional Boards. This will have been gained over a 25 year+ career in the transport/physical distribution/logistics sectors and he/she may well have gained additional exposure to domestic and international postal services.
Intellectually capable, the successful candidate will be able to absorb, synthesise and analyse diverse information quickly. Communication skills are key; in particular the ability to write well. He/she will also be highly numerate with acute commercial and sales awareness.
He/she will have strong influencing skills and the ability to work collaboratively and with diplomacy across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be highly strategic and used to operating in a senior management role within a multi-national cross-border environment.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, used to working and living in a country that is not their own, he/she will be highly international in outlook. It would be beneficial, though not essential, to speak French or Dutch.
- Attitudinally, shortlisted candidates will need to be: determined; empathetic; sensitive; diplomatic; persuasive; patient; reflective; outgoing; decisive; modest; self-deprecating.
- He/she is likely to have a business degree, and MBA at postgraduate level.
Predominantly Brussels, Belgium (with some international travel).
