A faster than expected decline in small letter volumes, as well as lower revenue from international mail and parcel services, resulted in a 5% drop in total revenue for Iceland Post in 2018.

Driven by wage increases and higher costs in providing the universal service in a competitive environment, Iceland Post also saw profitability fall in 2018. However, the operator reported continued strong growth in parcel volumes, with domestic volumes increasing faster than international volumes for the first time since 2015.
