IPC was one of the exhibitors at the TIACA’s International Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition 2016, the premier air cargo industry event, which took place at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from 26 to 28 October 2016.
The biennial event rotates between Europe, the Americas and Asia, bringing together over 3,000 air cargo decision makers and more than 200 exhibitors from around the world, to network and address current industry challenges and opportunities. The ACF 2016 edition was organised by The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and was hosted by Groupe ADP and Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo. IPC participated in the event by hosting a stand, in partnership with Le Groupe La Poste, and showcased some of the supply chain and tracking solutions developed to improve the reliability and efficiency of cross-border airmail transport.
The IPC team showed a live demo of the Mail Registration Device (MRD), which allows a quick and simple registration of mail handovers between airlines and postal operators at postal facilities situated in airports. Another solution presented and used to improve tracking throughout the postal delivery process was STROBE, providing the postal industry and e-commerce customers (e-retailers and shoppers) with a low-cost passive RFID-based solution for cross-border low-value e-commerce items. This low-cost RFID based tracking principle is also used within the airmail transportation processes.
Finally, a solution rolled out by participating posts across their respective road networks was also shown at the stand: the IPC Pallet Box, a foldable, stackable and recyclable receptacle, designed principally for road transportation. It allows for a more efficient use of cross-border road transportation by minimising equipment tare weight and maximising use of the load capacity. A new concept receptacle, tailored for air transportation, currently in the early stages of development was finally displayed at the stand, complementing the already existing range of pool services offered by IPC within its collaboration with the airline sector. The TIACA International Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition was a good opportunity for IPC to further raise awareness of its solutions among the air cargo community.
