Domestic and international e-commerce growth supported improved performance for Deutsche Post DHL’s parcels and express divisions in 2020, driving 5% total revenue growth.

Domestic parcel volumes grew 15% year on year in 2020, with strong increase from SME customers driving a 22% increase in service revenue. Through its express and logistics divisions, the post was able to exploit its own aircraft fleet at times when cargo capacity was limited, driving higher revenue and profitability. Mail volume decline accelerated during the pandemic, with advertising mail volumes dropping 17% in the year. Improving network efficiency and continued growth for B2C e-commerce will help the post further improve profitability in 2021.
