Slowing but continued mail volume declines and lower interest income drove a 3% drop in total revenue for Chunghwa Post in 2019.

Domestic mail volumes dropped 6% year on year, while international volumes grew 7%, driven by increased transit volumes from China. Increased competition slowed growth in parcels and express volumes, with domestic volumes growing less than 1% as a result of falling express demand. To increase competitiveness in e-commerce delivery, the post is investing in rapid expansion of its parcel locker network.
