Acquisitions in the parcels division partly offset a decline in both mail and parcel revenues in 2022 due to lower volumes, which drove an overall decline in Swiss Post’s group revenue in 2022.

Adverse macroeconomic conditions impacted Swiss Post’s business on several fronts, with high levels of inflation weighing not only on consumer confidence, but also driving down interest revenue – one of the main revenue streams for the PostFinance division. The division recorded a 3.6% decline in revenue year-on-year.

The group’s highest-performing division was its Communication Services division. Acquisitions – targeted at the division’s expansion into electronic ID, public sector software and IT security services – and positive acquisition effects drove division revenue by nearly 100% in 2022. The group’s repositioning through its Communication Services division seeks to capture market share in the digital technologies that increasingly replace traditional mail services.
