In a bid to accommodate increasing demands, UPS has upped their deliveries and is building a 1.1m ft² package operation facility in Texas.
UPS has expanded their delivery operations to include Saturday deliveries and pick-ups, allowing residential and commercial customers to receive their packages one business day earlier than usual. By improving time-in transit, UPS customers will be able to access UPS’s transportation options six days a week, which can be used in combination with UPS Access Points and UPS My Choice, allowing more flexibility. The delivery company began testing Saturday deliveries in the US states of Atlanta, Philadelphia and Los Angeles in 2016 and will be expanded to 15 metropolitan areas before December. UPS expects the delivery project to cover 5,800 cities and towns by 2018.
In Texas, the company has announced plans to build a US$200m package operation facility in the town of Arlington. Spanning more than 1,100,00ft² on 110 acres, the facility will create an even greater network efficiency and the flexibility to manage the fast-paced growth of e-commerce. The facility will create approximately 1,400 full-time jobs and will be filled with new technology that will increase the accuracy of data collection.
