Canada’s national postal operator, Canada Post, has announced that the Canadian Postal Workers’ Union (CUPW) began a nationwide strike on September 25. Postal workers are on strike in reaction to the government’s decision to restructure Canada Post.
Therefore, there is no movement of mail items in Canada temporarily. International shipments that have arrived in Canada since September 25 will be stored safely, but will not move forward until the strike ends. When the postal service is restored in Canada, shipments that have already arrived and are in storage will be processed and delivered in the order of arrival as soon as possible.
Omniva will not accept new shipments or deliver shipments to Canada as of 29 September. We will resume delivery to Canada as soon as we receive information that the movement of postal items in Canada has been restored. We will inform customers about the resumption of delivery as soon as possible.
All continuously updated notices about interruptions in the Canadian postal service can be found at: www.canadapost.ca/negotiations.
