Boosted by presidential and legislative elections, driving demand mail and express services, Correos de México recorded a 7% increase in net sales in 2018.

Domestic mail volumes increased 5%, largely as a result of election-related mailings. Meanwhile, increased efficiency and cost-cutting initiatives supported further profitability improvements for the operator in 2018. Since 2016, it has seen its staff costs to revenue ratio fall from 84% to 75%, while its EBIT margin has improved 12 percentage points over the period to 2%.
