Driven by a decline in document delivery demand, as well as adjustments to mail and parcel services, Thailand Post reported a 7% drop in total revenue in 2019.

Mail volumes fell 7% year on year, while domestic parcel volumes dropped 23%, despite a steady increase in express and logistics demand. Meanwhile, an extension to retiree benefit payment periods drove a 14% increase in staff costs for the post. Combined with the 7% drop in revenue, this caused a sharp drop in profitability in 2019.
