On 20 May Leen Geirnaerdt will join bpost’s management committee as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She will take the place of Henri de Romrée, who was appointed head of the Mail & Retail business unit in January 2019. Leen Geirnaerdt brings extensive experience as CFO in a sector that has experienced major changes in recent years.

Leen Geirnaerdt has more than 20 years’ experience in business. After studying applied economics at Antwerp University, she began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she worked in the audit practice for six years. She then moved to the Solvus Research Group, a listed company in Belgium where among other things she was corporate controller.

After the acquisition of Solvus Research Group by the Dutch listed company USG People, Leen held the position of manager of the Belgian Shared Services Center, before assuming the role of group Chief Financial Officer in the Netherlands in 2010. When the company was acquired by the Japanese group Recruit she was appointed CFO of Recruit Global Staffing in 2016.

Leen Geirnaerdt is also a member of the board of directors of real estate company Wereldhave NV and the industrial group CFE NV.

Koen Van Gerven, bpost CEO, says: “I am delighted with Leen’s arrival and the experience she brings to bpost. USG People is notably a company which on a permanent basis needed to adapt to a changing world in recent years. Local roots, digitisation and globalisation were important aspects there. I welcome her to our company and look forward to a successful partnership.” He continues: “ I would also like to thank Baudouin de Hepcée. He has done an essential job as interim CFO over the past few months with regard to continuity. Baudouin has done his job in an outstanding and professional manner and he will now return to his role as Corporate Finance Director.”

Leen Geirnaerdt says: “bpost is a company that is going through a period of change and is growing internationally. It has an important role in the society in terms of service and as an employer. So I look forward to getting started on this exciting challenge and making a difference, together with the whole team, in the further development of bpost.”
