The last day to submit shipments to the USA with a value of less than 800 USD will be Friday, August 22. After this date, Posten Bring will not be able to accept this type of shipment. Similar arrangements are also being introduced in other countries.
The changes to the customs and duty exemption introduced by the US authorities mean that customers must now pay customs duties before shipments can be transported to the US. The details of this have not yet been clarified by the US customs authorities, nor have system solutions been developed that postal companies can use.
Postal companies in Europe are working together to clarify the process and solutions that the US customs authorities will require, but so far this has not been clarified. At the same time, the implementation date is being maintained.
The situation creates uncertainty around transportation options, return processes, and responsibilities, so that suspension appears to be the only option.
Intensive work is being done to obtain the necessary clarifications so that solutions can be developed and mail delivery can be resumed.
Exception
Shipments with a value of more than 800 USD will be cleared and sent as in the current solution. Gifts between private individuals with a value of less than 100 USD (just over 1000 Norwegian kroner) are still exempt and can be sent as usual. The same applies to ordinary postal items with documents.
Business Parcel and Pick Up Parcels can be sent as before, but a 10-digit US tariff code must be provided. The fees calculated during customs clearance will depend on the country of origin of the goods in the shipment, and if there are goods originating from two different countries, all the goods will be charged the highest fee. The EMS service to the USA can no longer be used.
