From August 23, 2025, the Latvian Post will be forced to indefinitely stop accepting shipments containing items, or small packages and parcels, for delivery to the United States of America (USA). This is due to the executive order issued by US President Donald Trump to suspend the duty-free “de minimis” regime for all countries. Shipments

"Latvijas Pasts" will continue to deliver letter correspondence, including documents, to the USA.

It is expected that the new changes in customs policy will affect the operations of European postal operators, including Latvijas Pasts. The company, in cooperation with the parties involved, is identifying solutions to be able to restore specific deliveries to the USA as quickly as possible.

Currently, "Latvijas Pasts" together with the European Postal Union (PostEurop), the International Postal Corporation (IPC) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) are looking for technical solutions to ensure compliance with US requirements regarding the import of commercial shipments and the correct exchange of customs data, which would confirm that customs duties have been withheld on shipments.

The US President's executive order suspending the "de minimis" duty-free regime for all countries will take effect on August 29, 2025.
