In view of the new requirements of the US Administration and a new methodology for collecting and remitting customs duties, there will be significant delays in the delivery of shipments to the USA.

Shipments may be returned by the US postal operator and may need to be re-sent. The requirements for electronic advance data as regards the preparation of customs declaration sent to the US postal operator have also been increased.

The Universal Postal Union is developing a solution that will allow postal operators to declare and pay customs duties directly to the US authorities. It is not yet finalized and its operational implementation is under development. As a result, temporary disruptions to regular international mail flows are expected.
