The award will be presented on October 8, 2025 at the 9th Keep IT Simple 2025 conference in Ljubljana at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. The awarded project will also be nominated for the ELA Awards 2025 (European Logistics Project of the Year), awarded by the European Logistics Association (ELA).
The award-winning project combines a desktop application for optimizing delivery districts and data management with a mobile application for capturing delivery points and for navigating mail carriers in the field. Using mobile applications, mail carriers switch to digital navigation and data capture directly from the field , which optimizes their daily routes.
The implementation of the system directly improves the quality and reliability of delivery services. Optimizing delivery routes enables faster and more predictable delivery, reduces the number of unsuccessful deliveries and increases timeliness.
"The Delivery Point Optimization project brings numerous advantages, including speed and predictability of delivery, fewer errors and greater service reliability. Optimized routes reduce costs with fewer kilometers traveled, lower fuel consumption and fewer unsuccessful deliveries. Digitalization relieves the administration and reduces unnecessary paper use. All of the above contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions and enables the sensible use of more environmentally friendly means of transport. At the same time, the working conditions of employees are improved, as digital tools reduce physical strain and stress and ensure greater transparency in work scheduling. By optimizing delivery points, Pošta Slovenije is setting new standards of efficiency, sustainability and quality in Slovenian logistics. The digitalization of the delivery network and its dynamic modernization bring an important logistical innovation that proves that it is possible to simultaneously reduce costs, improve the user experience and reduce the environmental footprint, thereby creating a long-term competitive advantage," emphasized the chairman of the selection committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Letnik from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering and Architecture, University of Maribor. He was also on the expert committee with Assoc. Dr. Patricija Bajec, Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Transport, University of Ljubljana, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tina Cvahte Ojsteršek, Faculty of Logistics, University of Maribor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andreja Habjan, Habjan Transport, doo and Mag. Gregor Rak, Traffic School Maribor.
" The aforementioned project by Pošta Slovenije is more than just a technological innovation. It represents a turning point in the way delivery is organized and carried out, as it puts the postman at the forefront and at the same time offers him support in the field. The application enables precise recording of delivery locations, delivery times and automated route optimization. This leads to a more even distribution of work, greater efficiency and faster adaptability of the delivery system ," said Peter Milinović , Director of Technology, Network and Logistics at Pošta Slovenije, upon receiving the award.
