In 2026, Engage turns 20. Engage is bringing together 10+ postal operators and 12+ airlines to ensure cooperation in key areas such as digitalization, electronic proof of custody and proof of delivery, data capturing efficiencies and electronic settlement based on standard operating and messaging procedures.

Over the past 20 years, the initiative has gathered contributions from more than 200 participants, experts representing carriers, post system vendors and international organisations. The group covers many areas of expertise be it technical, operational, regulatory and more.

Engage has helped shape the airmail industry as we know it today, which is so different from what it was 20 years ago. The Engage initiative started all the way back in 2006, as Future of Mail by Air (FoMbA), when IPC invited Air Cargo executives from the main mail carrying airlines to address the concerns that most had regarding the sustainability of the airmail transportation network.

Posts and airlines committed to work together to increase efficiency and quality of airmail transportation. The idea was to focus on the alignment of air, cargo and airmail processes and to increase the electronic data interchange to provide efficiencies, but also visibility.

20 years of active engagement allowed for, solutions development,   productive networking,  KPI implementation and innovation. 20 years of front runners leading the industry into a more modern, digitalised landscape.

Engage is also the driver behind IPC-developed solutions that support the airmail industry, which include but are not limited to:
