CTT – Correios de Portugal is implementing a series of measures to accelerate the normalization of mail delivery in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM).
This plan includes reinforcing distribution capacity by 25% (including human resources, fleet, and increased routes) to ensure greater service stability. This measure is complemented by the reorganization of internal processes and the recommendation of alternative parcel delivery solutions, through Locky automated lockers, whose network CTT plans to expand to a total of 50, with 30 new locations, or at partner sales points, thus also increasing CTT's response capacity on the ground.
Priority has also been given to mail addressing critical needs, such as vouchers for pensioners.
The measures adopted have already begun to produce positive results, with a gradual improvement in distribution. The recruitment of human resources continues, which will allow for the stabilization of operations.
The constraints identified by CTT (the Portuguese postal service) in processing postal items in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, impacting normal distribution to the population, result from a combination of factors. On the one hand, there are limitations in transport between the mainland and the Autonomous Region, both by air and sea, compounded by restrictions on cargo capacity. Added to these limitations are difficulties in fully restoring CTT's operational capacity, stemming from a shortage of available manpower to cope with the accumulation of items caused by the irregularity of transport flows.
CTT regrets the inconvenience caused to its customers and reiterates its firm commitment to ensuring the continuity, proximity, and quality of services provided to the populations of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, respecting their needs.
