The transport of mail between Finland and the United Kingdom will slow down due to the suspension of passenger flights. Traficom has decided that passenger flights between the two countries will be suspended for two weeks from December 21, 2020. Delays are expected for items sent from Finland as well as items arriving in Finland.

Posti has already actively sought new connections also in land and sea transport due to a decrease in air freight capacity.

“At Posti, we are closely monitoring the situation and we will immediately inform our customers when there is something new. Unfortunately, delays are inevitable,” says Sami Finne, Posti’s Vice President, International eCommerce.

“As for online retail, our customers may be relieved to know that, due to Brexit, many online stores in the UK have also opened warehouses in Continental Europe. This means that items can also be sent from countries like Germany, Belgium and Poland. Right now, items from these countries are still delivered as usual. Please check with the online store the location from which products will be sent when you are ordering,” says Sami Finne.

In addition to the traffic restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Brexit will also cause delays in transport to and from the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.
