– We currently have a well-functioning parcel terminal and important infrastructure in place in Mo i Rana, and we will now utilize this even better. Mo i Rana will in future receive more parcel volume and will become one of our most important parcel terminals in Northern Norway with responsibility for the Helgeland and Salten areas. The current terminal will be upgraded, the capacity will be increased and the activity level will be raised, and we will create a larger and more robust professional environment, says Regional Director for the North, Thomas Henriksen at Posten Bring.
Today, all packages going to Salten are transported by train past the terminal in Mo i Rana. When Posten Bring chooses to centralize the parcel sorting for almost all of Nordland in Mo i Rana, it means that the packages going to the Salten area are stopped, sorted and prepared in Mo i Rana, before being sent by train further north. Upon arrival in Bodø, the packages can thus be driven directly to pickup locations and customers throughout Salten.
– This streamlines our package production while maintaining the same delivery times for customers in Nordland as today. The decision has been made after thorough analyses and assessments. The terminal in Mo i Rana will take over responsibility for all package production by the latter half of 2026, Henriksen continues.
For several years, Posten Bring has worked to adapt its terminal structure to changing market needs, not least as a result of digitalization and a falling letter volume.
– We are in the midst of a demanding restructuring, and the structure of the future letter network is still uncertain. Therefore, it is important for us to utilize existing capacity and infrastructure in the best possible way. The terminal in Mo i Rana is well suited to take on this task, and this solution means that we can take the necessary steps without making major investments in new buildings and facilities, explains Regional Director Henriksen.
Moving business out of Fauske
The restructuring also means that parts of the operations at the terminal in Fauske will be relocated, as Posten Bring has previously communicated.
At the same time, Posten Bring's operations in Bodø will be strengthened. Instead of building a new terminal, the current terminal in Bodø will be upgraded and they will also be given more new people and new tasks. The driving office, freight production and transport will be moved from Fauske to the terminal in Bodø during 2025. The parcel production in Fauske will be transferred to Mo i Rana by the latter half of 2026. The distribution unit with postmen who carry out letter delivery will still be located in Fauske.
