As part of International Forest Day, CTT – Correios de Portugal and Quercus will organize a reforestation action on March 21st in Madeira, with the support of several volunteers, as part of the “A Tree for the Forest” initiative. The planting will take place in the 'Chão das Galinhas' area , between 10:00 and 12:00.

Organized by IFCN, the event will also involve CTT staff and all external participants who wish to register, with the aim of promoting the importance of preserving and perpetuating native forests.

The successful planting of all the trees, part of an initiative now in its 12th edition, demonstrates the commitment of Quercus and CTT to mobilizing society regarding the importance of our forests and their recovery. Anyone participating in the "A Tree for the Forest" initiative is contributing to the afforestation and reforestation of Protected and Classified Areas throughout the country, with Faia Brava being the first privately owned protected area in Portugal. The role of forests, forest species, and the ecosystem services they provide is essential for our existence and constitutes additional protection against future pandemics.

Thanks to the community's contribution, thousands of native species have already been planted in Portugal. All plantings are organized on the ground by Quercus, in close collaboration with local organizations.
