LP EXPRESS has added 10 new electric Citroën Jumper minibuses to its courier fleet. Since the beginning of September, they have been delivering parcels in Vilnius and Kaunas. These are the largest electric vehicles in the Lithuanian Post fleet so far.

Vice Minister of Transport Lukas Paškevičius emphasizes that investments in the renewal of the Lithuanian Post fleet will create real tangible benefits for customers.

"New electric minibuses will not only protect nature, but also the people of Lithuania from rising service prices. With this purchase, we will also solve another challenge - more capacious transport will transport more parcels in one trip, so they will not stay longer than necessary at the distribution center and will reach people's homes or parcel machines faster," says Vice Minister of Transport L. Paškevičius.

These minibuses can travel up to 420 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP standard, making them ideal for daily courier routes in the city. The purchase of ten new electric Citroën Jumpers cost around 370 thousand euros.

Currently, electric vehicles already make up about a third of the Lithuanian Post fleet. This number includes not only its own vehicles, but also those leased by the company. Among them are the Dacia Spring and Renault 5 E-Tech, which have been used by mail carriers since last autumn, and now the new Citroën Jumper.

In larger and more densely populated cities, electric minibuses are particularly suitable for intensive courier work. LP EXPRESS couriers cover hundreds of kilometers per day, visit many addresses, and their routes are planned in advance. At the end of the work, these cars return to the delivery centers, where they can be charged and sent out on a new route in the morning with a full battery.

"Working in the parcel delivery sector, we feel a responsibility to reduce the amount of pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions entering the environment. The new electric minibuses not only reduce noise and pollution levels, but also mean better working conditions for LP EXPRESS couriers, who deliver parcels to parcel machines and to customers' homes quickly and conveniently every day," says Kastytis Valantinas, Director General of Lithuanian Post.

As the number of electric vehicles grows, Lithuanian Post has already invested in its own charging infrastructure, allowing for convenient charging of vehicles while adapting to the work schedule of postmen and couriers. The company currently has 150 of its own electric vehicle charging stations.

The total transport fleet of Lithuanian Post amounts to almost 800 vehicles.
