Due to the discontinuation of the de Minimis regime (exemption of customs duties for imported goods) by the United States of America, CTT will temporarily suspend the transportation of postal shipments containing these goods to the USA in all mail products, universal service parcel and International express parcel starting August 26th.

Shipments destined for the US containing exclusively documents and offers between individuals worth less than USD 100 will not be impacted by this measure.

The sending of shipments containing goods to the USA can continue to be ensured through the International Premium product , for CTT Expresso contractual customers, which allows shipments of up to 30 kg with collection and delivery at the most convenient location, with the fees being borne by the recipients.

The change to the de Minimis regime in the US resulted from an Executive Order by President Donald Trump that will come into effect on August 29, 2025, eliminating the tariff exemption, with all shipments destined for the US now paying customs duties.

This change directly affects international postal flows and requires shippers to pay customs duties before shipment to the US. The details of the new requirements are not yet fully clarified by US customs authorities and will require operational adaptations by postal companies worldwide.

CTT joins other European operators in suspending postal shipments of goods to the USA, such as bpost (Belgium), La Poste (France), Deutsche Post (Germany), among others.

Despite the short period between the announcement of the executive order and the start of the new regime, CTT is making every effort to implement the necessary changes to guarantee the provision of postal services for the shipment of goods to the US in all shipping modes. The suspension will last as long as strictly necessary to implement these changes.

This suspension covers postal shipments containing goods destined for the United States, Puerto Rico and other territories under its administration.
