The initiative promotes the replacement of traditional paper documentation with standardized electronic messaging, enabling postal operators and airline partners to exchange transport information digitally. Specifically, paper forms such as CN 38, CN 41, and CN 47 are replaced by CARDIT and RESDIT EDI messages, allowing transport data to be shared securely and in real time.
By moving to electronic data exchange, postal operators can simplify operations, improve collaboration across the transport chain, and increase visibility throughout the entire airmail process. The initiative also supports the postal sector's broader modernization by encouraging common standards and preparing operators for future business and regulatory requirements.
Paper-free transport offers significant operational and business benefits:
To successfully launch a paper-free airmail route, the Postal Operators (Origin and Destination) and the Air Carrier must align their Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems and follow a structured onboarding process.
Three parties must be capable of sending and receiving specific EDI messages:
Let IPC provide an initial meeting with all necessary explanations and information.
Contact IPC to create your user account for the Paper-Free Tool.
Approve the existing route or create a new route in the application.
Receive confirmation after the other Post and Air Carrier have completed the digital signing process.
