A major equipment upgrade is planned as of October for all INTERCONNECT members participating in the Mail Registration Device (MRD) project.  The upgrade confirms IPC’s commitment in reinforcing the visibility of mail items within the countries involved in INTERCONNECT, by providing a robust and stable system to help record key tracking events to measure the quality of service of the transportation leg.

In addition, further developments have been put in place for some sites. Frankfurt airport activated a data sharing system through MRD equipment in September. New Zealand Post, after having finalised the installation of MRD equipment, have recently started operations.
