PostNL has sorted and delivered over 17.1 million parcels in the Netherlands and Belgium over the past few weeks; 6.5 million in the past week alone. That is a new record. That is 30 percent higher than over the same period last year. The week before Sinterklaas is traditionally one of the busiest weeks for PostNL.

The volume of Sinterklaas shopping done online is increasing each year: options such as picking up deliveries at a parcel points, evening delivery and even Sunday delivery have proved to be popular. Consumers are also placing their orders earlier. “Our 19 sorting centres throughout the country have once again run at full capacity. Our sorting and delivery staff have worked extremely hard over the past few weeks,” said Leendert-Jan Plaisier, Director of Operations at PostNL Parcels. “We were only able to process and deliver these record numbers of parcels thanks to their dedication.”
