Fast-moving Chinese e-commerce group JD.com has started testing ground delivery robots in addition to air-based drones as it continues to expand its in-house technology-driven logistics operations. The company launched a ‘robot delivery service’ using JD.com-branded four-wheel droids at various universities across China at the weekend as part of its record-breaking ‘6.18’ online sales event that ended on Sunday June 18. The first delivery was made to Beijing’s Renmin University, the alma mater of company CEO (Richard) Liu Qiangdong.
