Swiss Post and the eHealth Aargau core community association are joining forces: they will be working together on the eHealth platform for the Aargau care region. In doing so Swiss Post is taking another important step towards meeting its commitments to eHealth.

eHealth Aargau is setting up an eHealth ecosystem for the networking of service providers with each other and with the population, and has chosen Swiss Post’s E-Health platform for this purpose. Based on the existing principles underlying Post E-Health, Swiss Post has now joined forces with partner companies to design the health platform for the Aargau care region. This platform will comprise various modules, such as the electronic patient record (ePD) and service center, referral and transfer solutions, e-medication and e-vaccination records. The corresponding agreement is currently being drawn up, and further services in accordance with the eHealth Aargau 2025 strategy can be added at a later stage.

Healthcare professionals and their facilities in the Canton of Aargau will be able to exchange data securely and efficiently among themselves and with other healthcare professionals via their connection with Swiss Post’s E-Health platform. This will reduce the administrative burden and save on costs. At the same time, the quality of care will improve through efficient processes and the continuous flow of information, while patient safety will increase. Patients will have control over their health data at all times – only they can decide with whom it may be shared.

Post E-Health already up and running in several cantons

Swiss Post has spent many years working with leading technology partners to develop secure digital solutions for the modern healthcare sector. Several cantons and institutions have already successfully implemented Swiss Post’s E-Health service. For instance, the canton of Geneva has been running the “MonDossierMedical” service – a comprehensive electronic patient record including a medication and care plan – together with Swiss Post since 2013. Swiss Post’s electronic patient record is currently the only one on the market that already meets all of the requirements defined in the Confederation’s eHealth strategy and complies with international standards. The partnership with the eHealth Aargau core community signals a further milestone in the commitment of Swiss Post to eHealth following the contract with the eHealth Südost supporting association in the canton of Graubünden in May.
