The Hague, 4 October 2016 - One in three PostNL delivery vans will drive green by the end of 2017. In the coming months, PostNL will replace 400 diesel vehicles with over 400 delivery vans running on green gas. The green gas vehicles have virtually no CO2 emissions and extremely low particulate emissions. PostNL is the first logistics company to invest in these kinds of delivery vans on this scale.
Replacement
‘When a diesel van is due for replacement, we currently replace it with one that runs on green gas. Together with the almost 140 green delivery vans already in use, this brings the total to at least 550 vehicles, said Albert Rodenboog, Board Member and Chair of the Sustainability Council. One in five green gas vehicles in the Netherlands will soon be a PostNL vehicle.
Natural PostNL
The purchase of these delivery vans fits in PostNL’s approach of making greener deliveries. PostNL is taking ongoing steps to make the company more sustainable. Under the heading, Natural PostNL, the company is replacing its company vehicles and placing solar panels on the roofs of parcel sorting centres. Delivery vans also use the smartest delivery routes and vehicles are loaded in the optimum way to ensure that the least amount of ‘air’ is transported.
