Double-digit growth for GLS and improved UK parcels performance helped Royal Mail offset a 4% drop in mail revenue for 2018.

Driven in part by acquisitions in North America, as well as improving revenue performance in most European markets, GLS saw revenue increase 13% in 2018. However, tight labour markets and integration costs for new subsidiaries contributed a slight drop in profitability for the division. Despite a 9% increase for wholesale business mail rates in the year, Royal Mail’s mail revenue continued to decline in 2018, with marketing mail revenue dropping 10%.
